wiggy's underquilt

so I have a wiggy's sleeping bag (ultima thule) and like it. so I emailed him if ever he made underquilts. an hour later he said he did/has. no rating, pictures or measurements... disappointed. I was thinking synthetic for summer UQ because I am a sweaty guy when it is hot out...or cold out. but machine washable is always a bonus.
anyone on here have info on those UQ he has made?

no, but I can attest to the quality of his work. Wiggy himself, not a people person, but he sure knows his stuff. You'd be better off calling him on the phone.

I remember it being brought up a couple years ago. There was a lot of talk about emails and phone calls going back and forth but little to nothing on temp or suspension or any other aspects of how it's made, what it's made of or what it's capable of. I think several folks were interested but don't know that anyone made the leap with no info to go on.

As Paul mentioned, there was talk of a wiggy's underquilt a while back, but I don't think anyone purchased one.

If you are looking at a synthetic underquilt, you can order one from Paul at Arrowhead equipment. He is one of very few vendors that make synthetic quilts. His Jarbridge is quite popular and if you keep your eyes open, they do go on sale from time to time.

I have been considering using one of his poncho liners to make my own. Wiggy uses isulation that is called Lamilite. From what I have read, it is a thicker version of climashield.

From what I understand the "Lamalite" that Wiggy uses is solid filament polyester insulation, whereas "Climashield" is hollow filament polyester insulation, so they're the "same" in that they're both polyester, but there is a difference between solid and hollow. Solid filament polyester will last alot longer, it won't break down and lose it's loft over time like most synthetic(hollow fill) will, however the tradeoff is that solid filament doesn't compress as well as a hollow filament like climashield would. So better long term loft retention than climashield, but less compressible, how much bulkier is it? I couldn't say, but those are the main differing characteristics.
