Well, the Texas Fall Group Hang 2013, our 5th of these parties in the trees is now in the books. I had a great time and hope everyone else did too.
In addition to seeing a great variety of gear, spending time with old friends and making new ones, eating some amazing outdoor cooking, and enjoying some memorable campfire conversations, we had some down right decent weather too!
Special thanks to Oldgringo for the coffee and firewood; EastTexasHanger for the nametags and Sweedish Candles; Paul & Missy of UGQ for making the trip from Michigan to hang with us and the generous donation; HammEck for the "hot off the sewing machine" demo and prize donation. Our door, err, tree prize giveaway must have gone on an hour as there were so many things donated by generous participants. I'm grateful for Captn, Katinthehat, and Tina (for translating hand writing), and their efforts at making our prize giveaway such fun. Thanks too for the spare hands that helped with the breakfast feast from tortilla production and warming to egg breaking and pot stirring. You made Saturday morning a success. I'm especially thankful for my friend Alan for his behind the scenes support and help without which I wouldn't do this.
We had the chance to have knives sharpened, learn about wild edibles, play Frisbee in the dark, build cozies, test drive new gear, fish, and even take a nap or two.
According to the numbers, (two counted 73 at the pot luck, one counted 83, the official park census was 79, and the spreadsheet adjusted as best as I could remember showed 83), a lot of people swarmed into the trees and had a good time.
Now it seems like it was just a dream...
I know there were a number of cameras out there so let's see some pics or it maybe didn't... nah, it happened and was epic.
