Hi all. Just a quick report on my recent trip on a section of the Murray River in Australia. This is the first multi-day kayaking trip I've taken my hammock on. I've got to say that for sleeping comfort and convenience the hammock beats a tent hands down!
Three of the four nights away were spent in the hammock, but one night I had to join my mate in his Hilleburg 4 season tent as a gale force wind and driving rain took the fun out of hammock hanging. I could have rigged my tarp as a storm shelter but his tent was there and available.
But on the other 3 nights I had a great comfortable sleep uncomparable to what I normally experience when camping in the bush.
The only thing I am planning to change is that my DIY underquilt proved to be too bulky and heavy for convenience, although it was plenty warm. So I've ordered a Te-wa anti-freeze UQ which will be ready for the next section on the Murray in about March next year. This time it will be a longer trip, and I'll need to pack more gear, so the space and weight saving will be handy.
