When I was a newbie and bought a wbbb I got buckles and liked them a lot.
Then I wanted to save some weight so I switched to whoopies.
5 hammocks later I still prefer whoopies.
I like the cinch buckles for the simplicity - I've had whoopies occasionally turn over while getting in and out of the hammock and pop off the knot (Just one more reason to check your rig with every entry). I tend to car or canoe camp anyway (when I'm not hanging in my livingroom), so the extra weight isn't an issue for me.

I switched to whoopies with whoopie hooks and Dutch buckles last year and really like them. The buckles have a small loop of shock cord to hold the extra bit of straps together. The whoopie hooks are nice for switching out different hammocks with a single suspension system, but I never change from the BIAS WWM. It's just too comfy.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!
Full whoopie suspension all the way!

Any Day Above Ground . . .
For speed and convenience cinch buckles all day.
For least weight and multiple adjustment points whoopies win the race handedly.
Directionally challenged...comicly so.
Not all who wonder are lost...But I'm probably just lost.
I've never really made up my mind between the two and switch back and forth often.
Whoopies are lighter and will give you a farther reach between trees when needed.
Cinch Buckles are quick & simple, but a little heavier.
My latest personal hammock is equipped with whoopies threaded through the new StrapBuckles instead of using toggles.
On my lightweight rigs I use whoopies, but on most of my hammocks I use the cinch buckles, they are just so easy and quick. I hate whoopies in the winter when my hands are cold and they seem to get stuck.
