Suggested change to the For Sale section

Can we add a rule that you have to leave the price up after marking something as sold? It is a small change that I think would be helpful. I am constantly checking sold threads to find current market value of things only to find that the price has been removed. Just a suggestion. Also I would just like to say thanks to all the new mods you guys are doing a great job!

I've heard this request before and have been doing it myself personally. I can see the value in it.

I almost posted the same request yesterday. I have no idea why sellers want to remove the price.

From a quick look a day ago, I think the mods are deleting posts with the prices removed instead of moving them to the sold forum.

Suggested change to the For Sale section

We don't delete posts just because they have no pricing. What we do is when thread is deemed sold. We make sure the title reflects that then we lock the thread and move it to the sold section. We don't delete posts. It might be the OP of the threads that change it.

Suggested change to the For Sale section

Yeah I made the same request earlier this year. It got better for a while when people were talking about it. If we as a community remind people I think it will catch on. I have asked the seller before what the sale price was in the thread just so there was a record. Not sure if there needs to be a rule but it would be nice if everyone left the prices up.

Based on the history of the for sale forum it seems as though OP's who change their threads will continue doing so unless there is a rule against it. I am not sure why an OP would take down the listed price once an item is marked sold. An item can still be marked as sold without removing the price. Also it appears that there are at least a few of us that would like to see this change happen.

    I agree with this 100%..

There should be a rule to keep up the price.

people can simply use strike to cross out the price, leaving it readable

Or just like the wtt thread have the item labeled as sold at @ such and such a price.
Example "wbbb sold to Nighthauk for $2.75 " or "I'll take it @ $2.75"

This would create a more consistent market, and would give sellers a much better idea of what something would sell for prior to listing.

I agree with Mancat and HK2001, this will allow some transparency.

I agree with Mumble and hk2001.
It just makes market value easier without having to do a crap load of research.
