    Hanging in a shed?

Anyone ever hang in a storage shed? I thought I may try this when I want to test some cold weather setups. There won't be any wind obviously but good enough since my trees are all spaced too far apart. I don't want to get into stands or 1-tree setups at this point either.

I'm guessing the size is about 12'x10' or so. The previous homeowner built it a few years ago and did a great job. I was planning on hanging at an angle by screwing in some anchors or pad eyes.

I guess there's no way to really tell if it will support me just by looking at it. 2x4s, 4x4s, and whatever else is in there. I may try and reinforce some areas if they look weak. One side will be the door frame, which looks beefy. The other side, not so sure.

I can hang in my tractor shed when the spirit moves me .Its open one side, locust posts, dirt floor. Can listen to the cows and coyotes. Gets a breeze ,helps with the tractor shed smell.

My very first hang in a DIY hammock was a disaster! Pulled the screw hooks right out of the shed - BE CAREFUL!

I never drink water. I'm afraid it will become habit-forming.

Idea for you - use a 12 foot 2X4 or 10 foot fence pole or strong straight tree as a 'ridge pole' like the Turtle dog or Turtle Lady stands use.
So you would hang the 'ridge pole' from the shed rafters vs. using the tripods.
This way whatever part of the shed you use will only be holding your weight and not the hammock lateral forces.

+1 to oldpappy, you could hang a ridge pole or bolt a couple of 4x4's to the wall and set the ridge pole on top of it, takes up almost no room and won't pull the building in on you.
    Good luck,

I have a 12x16 shed. My first night out was exactly what you are asking about. I screwed a 4' 2x6 horizontally to 3 of the studs and the top plate diagonally across the shed. (one on each wall) I put an eye bolt through them and it holds my 315 lb self just fine. It also gives me a place to do test hangs on all my projects as well.

Good info! One of those "why didn't I think of that" moments. Thanks! Going to try it out tonight if there's room - I just moved a bunch of outdoor furniture in there.
