Any Interest in a 2013 Colorado Winter Hang?

    Place: Kenosha Pass (10,400ft)
    Time: DEC. 27, 28 and 29th.
    Duration: 3 days 2 nights
Itinerary: This would be a 1.5 mile hike in with no basecamp at the cars.

First day would be spent hiking in and making camp.
Building a fire ring and cutting wood.

Day two we would do a 3 mile loop snowshoe day hike along the ridge looking over South Park.
Yep where Eric Cartman, Kenny McCormick, Kyle Broflovski live.

O&B, I would like to try to make it. I've tried to make a couple CO hangs in the past, but something has always gotten in the way. I would like to try this again. I will watch this thread for a date so I can make arrangements.

I'd love to show Tim around one of my favorite Colorado winter hanging spots.
I wonder what a plane ticket costs from PA to Denver?
Might make a cool Christmas present.

That would be great if you could make this one.
As for a date. I am retired and pretty much open except for a few days around Christmas.
I am not really sure when the schools/colleges are off for the holidays.
I know we have a few hanging college students on the front range.

This will be the 4th Kenosha Pass Hang I haved lead/sponsored.
It is one of my favorite spots to winter hang since the access road(Hwy 285) is always well plowed and the vehicles are only 1.5 miles (down hill) away if we need to bail do to bad weather.

Should the weather turn bad, mostly high winds with an ocasional blizzard
I have a backup place in Pine Co to retreat to rather than just going home.

Blowing snow. Wind can hit 50-60mph when a front moves thru. No way to know or predict.

    Pine CO. Backup hang.

That looks like an awesome spot. I'm stuck out here in Aspen (and new to Hanging) otherwise I'd certainly show up.

Lostman CG just up the road from you is a great place to get your hammock hanging on.
Let me know if it's just gear holding you back from coming.
I have enough winter hammock gear to outfit 3.

I'm looking to get a HG Incubator during the Black Friday sale. Have a 20'f Sleeping bag and HH Ultralite Backpacker. And plenty of winter gear living out here. Don't own a vehicle of any sort (beyond one that is pedal-powered) so getting outside of Aspen is virtually impossible for me. I've had no luck finding anyone locally who is interested in Winter Camping (and I'm limited to the Hunter Creek Valley for camping based on accessibility (basically up Smuggler/Red Mtn here).

I'll be in Florida for Christmas (20 Dec - 3 Jan) or else I'd be in. I hate that I'll miss it!

AH, Aspen to Buena Vista to Kenosha(115miles) would be quite a bike ride.
Sounds like you will have the gear.
I also use 20 degree quilts for my winter hangs supplimented with insulated pants and hooded jacket.
