Thinking about a weekend at BB 12/14 and 15 at the equestrian area. Anyone ever hung there? Anyone in the Houston area interested?

I've done it twice. Good tree spacing is hard to find, but doable if there are few other campers. The last time I had to wrap the end of my tarp around the tree and the hammock just barely fit. This on the campsites closest to the road---it was the only campsite that had any kind of tree spacing that made sense that was available. We did a hang there in March of 2012 and had about a half dozen people hanging, but there weren't any other campers there on Friday afternoon when we showed up.
December will hopefully have fewer skeeters than our March hang did.

Looking back to last year to reminisce and forward to post Covid-19 hangs in 2021

Well, I've had a bad case of cabin fever ever since getting back from Fairfield. I'll have to see if I can get an early start on the honey-do list to free up that weekend.

Used to live in Dickinson, and worked in the Rosharon area alot, so the mosquitoes that resemble small buzzards are familiar. But lost the acclimation to humidity about 2 years ago, was complaining it was humid the other day to my wife, she just looked at me like I was stupid, and pointed to the outdoor weather station we have at the house, it read 49%, lol.
I have to work Friday, and it is 5 hours there from Brownwood, so I will not be getting there until Saturday more than likely, but I will be working in the Houston area all week, so I may stay through Tuesday. Biggest consideration for me is the weather, I cannot sleep when it is muggy and hot. So I am watching the weather. Will keep you updated!
Oh and be gentle, this will be my first hang, may look like a monkey doing a math problem at times.

Fun little park. I enjoyed the TX hang there in 2012. Lots of gators and hogs there.
Weather is looking like it is going to cooperate, so I will be contacting the park today to see if there are availabilities and will post as soon as I know. The online registrations all say "call".

I may swing out and join you for a night on Saturday afternoon. Still seeing how work shapes up though, I'll be interested to see what you find out in terms of availability.
On a sidenote: I would also recommend driving to the equestrian area, as opposed to not being able to find the road in the dark and resorting to hiking in from the main part of the park
I made my reservations today for the Equestrian area, they have 19 sites available. I will be arriving on Saturday some time after 1500. If anyone can make it, would enjoy the company, if not, will enjoy the solitude .

I made it in about 1600. Got set up just before dark. Will post a pick later.
