Hey guys, I think Steve may be holding out on us. These don't look like "first DIY hammock gear" to me. There are a lot of innovative ideas buried in there.
Great job. And way to go diving in and making your own gear like that. Montana will certainly show you what works and what doesn't.
You may find some things you wish you did different but here's a little secret:
Tier-1 manufacturers like Marmot, The North Face, Western Mountaineering, etc. all have engineers on staff whose job it is to get things right the first time. Even they change their designs (pretty frequently) based on field use and customer input.
From where I sit, you're way ahead of the curve. This does NOT look like a "first DIY project." I wish you lived closer.
