That is the packed shipping weight for a running yard 36" x 60" or about 1-2/3 sq yards.

Since we do not know the packaging we cannot tell the weight but it looks like somewhere in the 3-4 oz/sq yd range.

I too would support the cottage folks over Walmart but they have to have what I want. ;-)

    What he said.

Unless you must have that particular pattern of camo (and, on a tarp, honestly, solid colors are often more stealthy than patterns; the patterns [usually] repeat, drawing the eye instead of hiding from it), I'd highly recommend DIY Gear Supply's stock.

I've made a tarp and poncho/undercover out of their 30d olive brown sil, and that stuff is more stealthy at night than my old-school USGI woodland pattern hammock. During the day, that's reversed but the tarp's still not noticeable over and above background vegetation.

The cost will be about the same, the material will be lighter (by quite a bit, which may or may not be a concern for you), the vendor absolutely stands behind his product, and he even provides various patterns for use for free on his website. I'd much rather support Scott (or one of the other fine cottage vendors who are part of this community; most of the folks who sell DIY supplies will sell 30d sil here) than WallyWorld. The exception to that being when I didn't realize I needed something for my trip until the night before--at that point, well, beggars can't be choosers.
