Thinsulate can be purchased from Seattle Fabrics with a polyester sewn on backing for 12.95 per yard. I have this in jackets and gloves and it seems flexible. Could this be the answer for Hammock warmth at a reasonable cost and bulk?

nope, most synthetics are already cheaper than 13$/yd, and thinsulate is one of the weaker ones when it comes to warmth:weight
climashield is very popular

Thinsulate is heavy. I have a thinsulate jumpsuit that I wear scuba diving and it is really heavy and doesn't compress real well either which is why it's ideal for diving insulation. I think it would be a poor choice for hammock insulation.
