I've seen his work.. I'm finishing off an argon TQ of his right now for someone. Soon to have another one of his pieces to play with. He truly does phenomenal work. Hoping beyond hope to get my hands on one of his goretex socks soon.

And he truly will answer any question you could ask him.

I have one of his TQ's, love it. Planning to test it in some cold temps next week.

My winter series TQ and UQ should be arriving any day now, it’s been a couple of weeks on order.

I too have some of his gear. I have a 1/2 underquilt rated to 20 degrees with 2 oz of overstuff. The only issue i've had with the UQ is that the channels are sewn small. It was crazy hard getting the bungy cord through, even though he supplied a cord in it to make it easier to pull through.

*NOTE* : I bought it from him when he first started his website. The problem has probably already rectified itself. I would buy from him again.

I will finally have my down in shortly to fill the custom quilts he made for me last year. I just hope I can get them together in time for the Frozen Butt Hang. It's the thickest quilt he's made, so I want to get him pics of the final product.

    Underquilts.com Testimonial - 1st ever sewing project a success!

Just finished my first underquilt and first ever sewing project! If anyone's on the fence about a UQ from Underquilts.com, I'll offer my own experience as a testimonial. I have never touched a sewing machine before today, but it's looking pretty sweet if I do say so myself.

Most of the time I spent figuring out how to thread a bobbin and top thread. A few test stitches and it was ready to go.

Next was messing around with down. Many thanks to Fronkey's excellent video on his method. I can't say I did it as cleanly or quickly, and I think I inhaled a half ounce or so, but I got it in there. One oz per baffle was easy enough. I had to eyeball the 2 oz of overstuff since I don't have a scale. Hopefully I won't notice if my distribution's off a little...

Pinning was a bit of an exercise in patience, but as Lost Biker's indispensable videos and pictures show on the site, use tons of pins and it goes a lot easier. A third hand helps too.

Sewing the channel was by far the easiest and most gratifying part. Threading the shock cord and cord locks was a cinch. I'm still debating suspension options, but that's the least of my worries.

Now I'm ready for a test, if it ever stops raining. I'm hoping with 850-fill down and 2 oz of overstuff, I'll be good to 15-20 degrees. Total package is around 19-20 oz and probably saves me $40 off of comparable finished UQs. More important is what I gained - enough confidence to tackle a top quilt and some other sewing projects.

Woohoo! Thanks again to the folks on the forum who shine the flashlight for the rest of us.

    thanks for your post jvolzer.

I am about ready to order my down from Dutch.
Although I sewed as a teenager, I am not a true DIYer.
Your post gave me great confidence for any lack of skillz I might have.
But 2 thumbs up for Lost_Biker's work!!!

I ordered a foyle shell last week. I can hardly wait. Going to stuff it with down from a sleeping bag I got. ( 40 degree, 600 fill down sleeping bag on clearance from McSporting goods for $30! I got 4 of them).
I'm not sure what to do about suspension though. Any help or ideas on that would be appreciated.
Fill what's empty, empty what's full, scratch where it itches.
