figured out the best way to rig a tarp.

Acquire it from someone that knows how to do it. I traded for a hh hex tarp and it arrived complete with dutchware and shock cord tie outs. It came complete except the rl which will be here shortly.

I can't argue about that - that way is very effective.

Just for reference, I love the first method shown here... No Dutch bling, yet.

I know practice, practice, practice. I can tie wonderful knots at my desk or couch. I use the the tie a lot method in the field. I wish I had trees to hang in my yard with. I also need to take some solo trips that I am not either managing me and my son, or my 70 cubscouts. I could then practice in the field.

Shock cord tie outs? Really, how does that work out? I've only used lash-it or zing-it, seems like shock cord would stretch too much.

the shock cord is only part of the tie out. the rest is nite ize reflective cord. the shock cord is just a tensioner to help keep tension after things loosen on you. i have seen people use medical tubing as well.
