Karen & I would like to thank everyone who made it this weekend. It was our best hang ever, with 43 hammock campers & at least 10 day visitors! There were hammocks everywhere! All makes & modifications. Special thanks go to those who helped with the weekend: setting up the canopies on friday, bringing food & snacks, cooking/preparing breakfast on Saturday, firebuilding, cleaning up, packing away the canopies on Sunday, dog sitting, etc. Everyone pitched in to make the weekend a great success and we really enjoyed renewing old friendships and creating new ones.
The silent auction raised an amazing $609! The bidding for Brandon's Blackbird Hammock & the Speer SnugFit was fast & furious! Our thanks to all those who donated items & those who placed bids. As promised, the proceeds will go to support efforts that promote hammock camping to the online community at large, such as this forum.
We're looking forward to the June Hot Springs campout and we'll be posting information regarding that soon. In the meantime, hopefully our paths will cross with some of you at Trail Days in Damascus, VA.

It was great meeting everyone this weekend. Thanks to all that put this together.
I did notice that Pawfoot's trip report omitted the late night ultra lite cookoff Saturday. Apparently Easy Mac can be converted to Difficult Mac with enough effort. I'm just glad i turned in before the burritos and chicken kicked in around the campfire.
To LPFundstein, thanks for the jumper cables. Knoxville is a long hike from Hot Springs!
It was worth it, but I'm a little bummed now that I have no pictures from the hike or the pictures I took the first morning as the sun came up while I was still in my hammock enjoying the view.
I guess I have to go to the june hang now to retake those pictures.
I call the same trees.
Breaking down the camp on Sunday went much easier thanks to those who pitched in. The two large canopies had to be taken down & packed away in the UHaul, the unused fire wood was lreoaded, & there was food & trash to deal with--those chores went fast with the extra hands!
We did end up with a few items left by others. A black knit stocking cap, a folding camp chair & a toiletry kit in a zippered bag. If you want them back, just let me know....Ed

Just want to say thanks for the hospitality and friendship shown to this noob. I took a leap of faith making the long drive to Hot Springs (7 hours+) and was pleasantly surprised at how easily I was made to feel at home. Sir White Wolf, Pawfoot, and fulminated have warped me, I think. Or, maybe I was warped already. Thanks to Ed for putting on this outing and for the many informative conversations. Thanks to Karen for the yummy breakfast on Saturday. And Pawfoot, I'm glad you enjoyed the chemlight, even if we didn't have a real rave. Everyone there made a lasting impression on me, and I hope to see you all again in September. (Too hot for me in June.)
I'll try to add a few pics from the outing as soon as I get them edited.
