    Hang update and help needed

Well I took the Warbonnet Balckbird out again this weekend 3rd trip in it so far. I have an underquilt ECT rated for 40 degrees. This weekend was 9 degrees!! I put in a poncho liner between the UQ and hammock and a blue foam pad inside the double layer and covered the netting with a fleece blanket. I staked my canopy narrow to keep out the wind.

The verdict.... I was actually quite warm with my 20 degree sleeping bag used as a OQ.

The problem? - Camping on the ground hurts my back however, Im a stomach sleeper. I got the hammock because they look so comfortable. I have yet to get a good nights sleep in a hammock I think because im a stomach sleeper. the pad kept coming out of the double layer and made a wall because it was completely dislodged obviously causing my back to get cold.

I really want this hammock to work out its much lighter than my tent and inflatable pad and allot of other reasons just cant get comfortable enough to sleep. I even put a pillow under my knees and got a good flat lay I think I just toss too much.

I'm a tosser and turner and like sleeping mostly on my stomach.
When I had a wbbb I was able to get mostly on my left side/stomach.
I just had to move around a bit to find that spot. You can mess with the suspension a giving
you more or less sag that might be something to try.

I ended up going with an 11' hammock that has no headend footend lefty or righty
I was able to toss and turn even switch ends until it felt right. Worked for me.
As for a ccf pad. I hate them don't even like the whole foot box pad thingy when using a 3/4 UQ.
A nice warm full UQ really takes a lot of the hassle out.

PS- my two favorite 11' hammies is a TtoTTgear switchback and WL snipe for the reasons mentioned above.

If I sleep on the ground or in a bed, I'm a side sleeper. In my hammock I mostly sleep on my back, sometimes I'm on my side. I dropped the pad after my first hang. I kept pushing it out of the hammock in my sleep. Consider losing the pad it may be the cause of your comfort problems.

Try the hamock at home, if possible. Any hammock.
Getting used to something new can take time. At home, you can more easily tweak your set up. I was a stomach sleeper. Once you find your "sweet" spot, youll know it.
Hard to find it when your cold, chasing your pad, wondering if your hanging right etc.
Start with few naps? Youll get it.

Pad movement is mitigated with a DL hammock or a SPE. Pads are all I use when the temp drops below zero.

The Op has a DL hammock. From tossing and turning it works its way out.

I like gargoyles suggestion to fine tune at home. If that is not working for you try a better hammock, if that doesn't work sell them in the FS section.

Side sleeper in bed, on my back in the hammock. Took a few nights, but I can now switch and sleep well either way.

I look forward to sleeping in a hammock. Makes my bed feel cold

I missed that. Some hammocks don't work well with pads. The OP's hammock is one of them. The best marriage between hammocks and pads seems to be the DD or claytor hammocks.
