i used to think i was missing out by not having a whoopie/ti clip/toggle/strap/whatever suspension setup. then i found the becket hitch. the search is over. works with everything i got: hennessy ropes, mule tape, , etc. no hardware, no fiddlin. cinch it up, tie it in 2 seconds, done. releases with a tug. easy as pie.
I just received my hammock and am going to the forest ASAP to hang, and I'm definitely going to try out the J bend!

If you were in a situation where you were needing to tie amsteel around a fixed point (such as a metal pipe) - and wanted to create an loop in one end from which to run the working end through (similar to a tree strap) - What knot would be best to tie this loop into the end of the amsteel?
1. Bowline?
2. Alpine Butterfy?
These are the two loop-creating knots that I'm most familiar with, I'm just unsure how the force caused by wrapping around an object and then pulling on the knot will determine the best option?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
