Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the footbox though? No offense.

What does sleeping backwards get you? I think it puts the shelf in a bad position to use if I understand it right but what advantage does it get you.

Shug has a video clip of this somewhere as he prefers it that way.
It seems that the footbox can still be used for storage...

I have watched Shug's video but he doesn't flip and put his head where the box is, he just doesn't use the box. What is the advantage to flipping?

That's the way I understood the term "flipping backwards" to mean you slept with your head on the footbox end. And with all respect to Shug, I still think it defeats the purpose of the footbox.

57 Hail Mary's for disagreeing with Shug!

Shug sleeps "cockeyed" if you will, while I sometimes sleep backwards or upside down. Does either way defeat the purpose of the footbox? Who cares, it's my footbox and I'll use it as I please! I'll guarantee you that the folks that invented Spectra or a zillion other products didn't figure they'd wind up in backpackers' hammocks! I can put stuff in the footbox, and I can still put stuff in the shelf. It's just another option. No offense taken.

Now sometimes I do actually use the footbox ... I can get my head a little venting with it to the left but I tend to feel "mo natural" with me noggin' to the right. All good options.
