This was my first hang ever. I've been studying the threads on here and put my knowledge to the test. It dropped down to 28 during the night and I stayed warm. I even warmed up fast after my 3am too much coffee with dinner pee break. Nothing like unzipping in below freezing temps to make you feel alive!!

I used a Jarbidge (Apex) UQ with a 25* down mummy bag used as a top quilt (still deciding which TQ I want to buy). My hammock is a DIY stretch side Knotty special. My tarp was a Wally World cheap blue tarp. I tried pulling it in to make doors and it stopped the wind. My next purchase will be a light weight tarp once I decide on which style seems to be the most customizable.
I used a sun visor for my feet with wool socks and they stayed toasty all night.

Needless to say I loved. Never hitting the ground again. I already have a three day trip planned for the end of the year.

Always fun to read a first hang report sounds like you are on your way.
The only thing better that a TR post is one with picts.

Looks good, a lighter tarp will go a long way when hiking in. Check out Wilderness Logics, they're. Right in your back yard. If you need a tarp to try out, let me know.

It's Crazy, one day the beard moved in. Next thing I know I'm sleeping in the trees on mountains.

Wow, you managed your first hang with/out a frozen bum. Great job. You will love your new equipment and appreciate it when you decide what you wish to own. I on the other hand am still bungling along trying out lots of different type of gear, building my own gear to fit my needs. For me DIY is working out best, I am short, I do not care much for buying kids stuff, the quality tends not to be there, so DIY is the way for me to go.

Fantastic first hang; a lot of folks don't have the same initial success you did. As for a tarp, I'd recommend Hammock Gears cuben fiber tarp with doors. Get that and you're all the way at the lightest end of the spectrum and have the best features. The doors are excellent and give you lots of options. Plus, you'll appreciate the weigh saving the more/further you tend to hike with this set up.
