    Looking for ideas.

No idea how to title this thread. Basically looking for substitutes in my suspension system.

I am using a strap that wraps around the tree and one end goes trough the other end to tighten. Then I use a marlin spoke hitch on the free end f the strap followed by a whoopie sling that connects to my hammock end.

Was wondering what lightweight item I could use to attach te strap to itself instead of passing it through the loop end? Just to setup faster. I know a carabiner would work but I am looking for something strong yet lighter than a Biner.

Also, is there any other way I could attack the whoopie sling to the straps instead of using a marlin spike hitch?
Same deal, just looking for lightweight and faster setup.

    Thanks guys!

Oh man perfect! Will be placing an order soon for both!

Dutch, if you don't mind me asking about the whoopie hooks. How are they used?

Well the usual set up is whoopee sling is fixed loop attached to the tree hugger. The adjustable loop has a hook on it and there is a continuous loop on the hammock. So it goes loop- hook- whoopie sling- hugger. That way there is a water break under your tarp and if you want you can remove your suspension if it is wet and store it separately. I can also make an all in one whoopie hook suspension...

That all in one system looks great. What is pricing on that? Do you have more details such as lengths? Thanks!

You pick and chose your amsteel colors and hugger lengths. I use 4 footers here in the east since the whoopie takes up the distance the hugger falls short. You can order it from here...

You don't need Dutch Clips with this suspension and you must put in the notes that you would like it to be and all in one suspension. It is the same stuff only spliced differently than the standard whoopie hook suspension. It's what I use these days.

I use the all in one whoopie hook with 39" straps. I'm surprised more don't use this system. While I am mainly camping on the AT, I've used them out west as well. With a little creativity, you can hook them up many ways.

Low weight and bulk, super easy to use.

I do use a shorter continuous loop for the whoopie hook to attach to, but also have an Amstel soft shackle attached to this end. Many hangs, I use the soft shackle to loop on the other side of the webbing. The whoopie hook just dangles but the system works the same.

Needless to say, I love the system. Great idea and Dutch's video is simple and concise.

You can also splice a whoopie hook on the locked Brummell of this system. I do fave a pic of that. (I'm using two hooks on each sling).
