I'm deciding to move back out there come Monday, and due to recent events, I have decided I am going to move completely off the grid and live out there, I have mapped out a secluded areas with about a 2 Mile radius from any modern structures, I am honestly happy out there and can't wait.
I plan on building a permanent shelter,(log cabin) with the river and a creek nearby that will maintain me. I plan to keep my cellphone on for internet purposes only, (to update you guys) ide also like to show off my house and get some tips from the gurus out here.
I'd love some company ? Hell I'm down to start a village. Lol

There's a reason there are no modern structures out there: it's a floodplain. I envy your adventure, but wouldn't put much effort into a permanent structure...it won't be permanent.

That is very true, I have given it some thought, and i planned on making a raised shelter, something like a tree house, of course using p re existing firm strong trees as my frame.
Who knows, maybe this drought we've had will keep water levels down..
Food for thought, thanks for the input

We attempt to orienteer out in the Trinity Forest. Flood plain is VERY TRUE. We have had the city of Dallas cancel our "hike" (they call it) because the area takes at least a week to drain out after a 1 or 2 inch rain. We orienteered out there a week after a rain event.....we were going thru areas about half a mile away from the river, yet still had up to 4 inches of water laying in them. Oh....stock up on DEET.....
