    2" Tree Strap and MSH

It seems that there is a certain movement among State and National parks towards requiring Tree Straps to be a minimum of 2 inches wide for supporting camping hammocks. Only time will tell if this trend stands or simply fades away. If it catches hold and becomes the standard, I have a question about this.

How well does the standard Marlin Spike Hitch work with these wider straps? What modifications, if any, would need to be used to attach the hammock suspension to the straps. I don't have any 2" tree straps to conduct my own experimentation with so, I turn to the board for answers.

    Thnx.

I run my attached Straps through the 2" ones which are around the tree. You can the use whatever pleases to secure.

I started with seatbelt webbing because, like most, I wanted overkill on the safety factor and because that is what I had handy. I found it to give me more piece of mind that the whoopie sling wouldn't slip off the knot because the knot was so much larger it tucked behind it. I've uploaded a picture in my gallery that shows the marlin spike hitch using an aluminum arrow shaft toggle with the whoopie sling attached.

Is that a zing-it whoopie sling?
