A new down UQ fits Ridgerunner: Banks Bridge

    I just found this:

Apparently, Underquilts.com, which used to sell just DIY (or finish it yourself) stuff, has switched to offering a variety of fully-stuffed (finished) underquilts -- all in 1.1 ripstop; available in black, olive green, or coyote brown; no camo listed, no color photos. For now, at least, no fancy colors or Argon (takes more time to make).

Three underquilts are listed at http://underquilts.com/products/ as well as one top quilt and a sock. I don't care about most of these, since I have the RR.

The Banks Bridge is the UQ that fits the Ridgerunner. It comes in either full-length or torso-lengths (79" x 34" or 53" x 34"), as well as a 79 x 43 size that probably fits some other bridge hammock. You select from summer, 3 season, or winter weights, as well. I did not see the weights of these various Banks Bridge options listed, although their site did list weights for other UQs.

These are 700 fill duck-down underquilts. Banks Bridge prices range from $130 to $200 for the RR sizes, depending on size and weight (looks like full-length is $10 more than the equivalent torso-length version; each step up in weight increases cost by $20). Details here:

I'm curious what people think of underquilts.com, 700 down, 1.1 ripstop, etc.

    2-4 weeks delivery ????
    Duck down ???
Not the type to sugar coat...I'll tell you up front that water proof DOWN is the future, maybe at worst a 10-15 dollar up charge. When they hear/read duck, well they duck.
Month delivery? So many competitors can deliver over-nigh, just saying.

Brandon at Warbonnet is out about 3-4 weeks for his quilts. It is not all that unreasonable for that times period. Brandon took 5 to get me mine. I wasn't too happy with it but just saying that it seems to about on par.

I agree, those times are not really out of line at all for some of these handmade goodies. Now what does seem out of line is the use of duck down and ripstop in a waterproof goose down and argon world. Is the price break enough to lure people away from vendors with basically impeccable reputations that are using superior materials? I guess time will tell. Hopefully they will offer ridgerunner friendly UQ shells, in Argon, in the future. I've heard his stuff is great!

He seems to be ramping up. I bet he gets better times as he goes. I have faith in him.

Two to four weeks seems to be more than reasonable to me. Are we expecting small custom cottage manufacturers to keep enough stock on hand for immediate shipment?

Well, its been a month since I started this thread.

I'm going to guess this product does not exist yet, although it seemed like something that would garner interest here.

Underquilt's website lists the Banks UQ, which comes in different sizes and three seasonal models. But it still has neither photos nor information about weights, and I haven't received a response to questions via a PM and an email. I understand the owner has health issues, and I wish him well.

If someone actually does own one of these Banks UQs (designed for bridge hammocks, such as the WB RidgeRunner), please post a review with some pics.

The guy who makes these is a forum member named lost_biker. You could ask him about it.

I haven't seen this particular uq, but I can say Dave makes great stuff at very reasonable prices. He also does great custom work. He is currently making me a custom tarp for my WBRR.

I did, twice -- about a month ago. That is what this means:

Anyone actually seen this particular underquilt?
