Bear Burrito Oven on the Blackbird...
I have an UQP and BBO for my Blackbirds. The BBO is easier to vent where I want than a sock. (just unhook the shock cord at the head end and tuck it under or release one side and vent down the length of the hammock.) It also lets me use the tie outs and I like that option.
Also, if I'm using a sock, I want to use a traveler or other open hammock. One zipper is more than enough for me to deal with in the middle of the night.

Big MambaJamba tarp w/ doors or get a Superfly?
I don't like the doors being separate, especially in the winter. The doors aren't always easy to deal with and in windy conditions I've found them to be a PITA. For me, the right tool for the job is a full winter tarp like the Superfly.

I would start with the sock or BBO first. Then worry about the tarp. You will be warmer with the hammock wrapped up. Just my .02¢

I love my BBO... I have had it down into the 20s with a 40degree TQ and was pretty warm. Not discounting the sock option, but the BBO adds a good 10 to 15 degrees to the inside of the Blackbird.

If I still used a wbbb and bbo in below freezing weather
I would tie the bugnet down in the hammock since it's a major condensation
collector and I would cut a V shaped vent in the bbo in the area of my face
to vent my breath. Maybe use some velcro to close the vent when it's just warm and windy.

Since the bbo is held on the wbbb with elastic all around I found
it very hard to unhook the head end for a small vent without the whole
    think getting unruly.

As I recall, the BBO is attached at the head end with a couple of shock cord loops. Could these be lengthened to leave a vent?

MJ, please bring your BBO to a group hang. I would like a demo of your venting technique. I got the BBO because I thought it would be roomier with the tie outs. But I went back to the Warbonnet sock because I could not figure out how to vent it.

Another advantage of the BBO is that it can be installed very easy if you have set up in an exposed location and the wind starts later. With the sock you need to decide if you are going to use it when you set up. A real pain to install in the middle of the night withthe wind howling.

It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.

Possibly, I don't have a wbbb or bbo anymore so I can't try it.
But others might be able to give it a try.

I will bring it with me for sure. I just need to get over there. I'm trying to get over there at the end of the month, but it will be a last minute call for that weekend.
Dutch did a short video showing how he vents it at the head end. This shows one of the methods I was talking about.

More of a debated topic than I thought! Seems like I have some decisions to make. I don't like the idea of not being able to use my tie outs and having to open two sets of zippers... I haven't had any condensation issue yet, but have only slept below freezing 3-4 times in my hammock so far. Thanks for the great discussion everyone.

I was thinking of asking dream hammock if they can put a 6" Velcro vent in the fixed end of the danger bird cover at the ridge, then if I have condensation issues I can open the zipper end and the cover end.
