Calf ridge pressure and why I've never had it.....

I've used Warbonnets almost exclusively for many years. I own I think 7 and I've never experienced the calf ridge pressure some talk about.
Well I just watched Blaze's excellent video on cold weather hammock systems and he explains very well why I don't get the pressure.
See for some reason I got it in my mind long ago (and I think per Warbonnet's instructions) to keep the head end lower than the foot end. I've done that for other reasons (other than calf ridge pressure), reasons like helping the lymph return to circulation, keeping from sliding forward (as Blaze also points out); but by lowering the head end the chances of CRP (calf ridge pressure) are small to none. Check out Blaze's vid if you haven't already:

Glad that worked for you. I started with a WBBB and could never get rid of the calf ridge no matter what I did. Went to an 11 footer and have never had that problem again. Go figure

I think it all about positioning. When you feel the pressure, natural instinct is to move away from it which only makes it worse. Move your butt towards the ridge and it disappears. That is my story anyway.

    I second what Alamosa said.

I always hung my WBBB with the foot end higher and always had some amount of calf ridge pressure. It may have to do as much with body shape and distribution of mass within said body as with anything else.

Frequently, when one has "the answer" to a hanging problem, that answer only applies to a partial subset of hangers. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

+3. I have had more luck in some hammocks, especially my HH, by moving my legs towards the ridge- IOW, less diagonal. Some folks do just the opposite.

Laying in the hammock does not provide the best perspective for viewing, but I would assume the ridge is basically in a direct line between the foot suspension and the heaviest part of the body - the torso. In a head-left/foot-right arrangement, moving my body weight left (more diagonal), moves this direct line and the ridge to the left and away from my legs. This should also mean that the right side of the hammock, with my feet, is going to be raised slightly as well.

Head lower and position in the hammock really help me, but the thing that eliminates it completely for me...my sleeping bag! Originally I tried clothing or a pad, but that's just one more thing to mess with in my hammock. I like to keep it simple.

Tried a couple of the WB and finally went to an 11 footer with no RL (non WB).

    No more calf ridge pressure...........

    That's my story
