Backpacking Light chief executive officer Ryan Jordan says Knight set a brush fire several miles from where he was last seen that attracted the attention of firefighters.
So much for leave no trace. But then again... what ever works.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Leave no trace, unless you're lost and need a few acres of plants to send a signal?

If it is a matter of life and death for me, I'll do whatever reasonably possible to keep me alive. Starting a brush fire might not be the solution I would look for, but smoke can be seen for miles on the ground and in the air. I'd make every effort not to burn the forest down, but that's a minor consideration when it comes to my survival.

    Glad they found this guy.
