BA Insulated Air Core or POE Ether Thermo 6?

I've been researching a lot of sleeping pads, and I think I've narrowed it down to these two mainly because I want something low bulk, but still warm. The Thermo 6 has the better R-value of the two pads (not sure if its accurate or not), but I haven't heard of too many people using them in a hammock. Anybody using the Thermo 6? Which is the better pad for hammocks?

I'm a newbie to the hammocking world, and I really need some help.

I can't say anything about using them in a hammock, but I know that if you had to go to ground, the BA has had great reviews from ground campers.

    BA Insl Air Core

I used my new BA a couple of weeks ago, at 30 deg it worked best under the SB in the SS layer of my HH. No problems, plenty warm! Not inflated TOO, stiff it was very comfortable, never in the way of getting in and out. Maintains asymetrical positioning also very well. Plan to use it with an over quilt soon, instead of a bag. Getting in and out of a bag is much easier using the BA pad. Will probably use the BA all the time, good weight, temp rating, and price. But...........(under quilts still rule)
Since I retired, some times I stay awake all day, some times all night.

    BA Pad

I went ahead and got the Big Agnes Insulated Air Core mummy pad. I tried one out on the ground and I really liked it. Hopefully it will be just as comfortable in a hammock. I'm a little worried that I might slip off of it easier because of its mummy shape. Is that a problem with this pad, or will the shape of the pad not matter?

I've heard some people say that they have problems sliding off, while some people seem not to. If you can't stay on the pad but like it otherwise, BA makes some sleeping bags with no insulation on the bottom and a "pad sleeve" built in instead.

I used my BA Insulated AirCore on the ground before switching to hammocks. I really liked it except for two things - 20" max width was one tube too few for my shoulder/arms and the pad was noisy when you moved on it. Solved the first issue by laying unused clothing and stuff sacks along the pad. Never solved the noise issue for myself. For my wife's benefit, I just snored louder so the pad noise was overlooked.

Warmth and pack size where great. Weight was so-so.

i gave my BA aircore a try (i do love that for the ground) but don't feel the weight is justified, as opposed to the simple blue wally world ccf pad. i may carry it anyway just in case i'm lazy and sleep in a shelter

Which blue Walmart pad are you talking about? The only 24" pad my Walmart has is the egg crate one, which I've heard doesn't insulated well. Do you attach this pad to the outside of your pack?

Yes the weight is the issue with the BAs , i love em, if they were'nt so darned heavy they would be my only pad.
