Tarps are stuffed in my outer pack pocket. Hammocks are stuffed in a bishop bag. Like Dutch, I be lazy.
OCD kicks in back home and the tarps go back into their stuff sacks and lovingly placed in their tupperware condos.

    Skins for tarp

I use snakeskins for my tarp, so basically stuffing it. I can't imagine not having a skinned tarp and trying to set up in the wind - it's so much easier. I'm lazier than Cannibal - the tarp just stays skinned when I get home. Unless it's wet when I get home - then it gets spread out to dry, and then back in the skin for the next trip. On the trail it goes in the outer pocket of my pack so I can set it up in the rain and keep my pack contents dry. A skinned Maccat has got to be the easiest setup imaginable.

Tarp goes in a bag outside the backpack. First thing up, last thing down.

rolled in skins, no problems to date. Other things are stuffed mainly due to my lazyness.

I leave the guy-lines attached to the tarp so to keep from getting tangled.I grab the tarp in the middle, waud it up and wrap guy-lines around it.Been doing it like that for 4 years with same tarp, doesn't seem to effect the tarp any.

When, before enlightenment, I tent camped, I bought (for me at the time) an expensive 2 man tent and was told by the saleslady never to refold it using the previous creases, for exactly the reasons mentioned, it breaks down the fibres and it can also break down the waterproofing at the crease.

I stuff , and have been know on the last day to disconnect one side of the hammock with my sleeping bag and under blanket still in place and stuff the whole lot into my rucksack. Everything gets sorted out when I get home.

I stuff most things except synthetic sleeping bags. I'm convinced that the sheer stress from stuffing breaks down the loft in a synthetic quicker. Lots of smart people disagree with me, however.
