When you get in and past a YELLOW sign on the right that says "Fred ? trail" (don't go down Fred's trail) about 100 m after it take the trail to the left that will bring you to site 125 across the lake is the island site. It is a steep site and in the open.
Hey rofo, thanks for the reconaisannce. Hopefully we get similar weather. I note you took a trail of sorts towards the northeast and mentioned site 125 (presumably on the south shore). One of the reasons I favor the island is because the deeper water of the main basin will be close at hand for fishing. I was thinking the south side of the island to catch the sun and get out of the cold northerlies. I'll probably snowshoe over to 125 to check it out for summer though.

Do you remember how dense was the forest along the way, if we cut of the trail directly south of the island and tried to work our way 250+m down to the shoreline. Also, the ice conditions and the amount of firewood on hand might change the final location.

As of now I'm 90% sure of Saturday morning. If the plan holds we can meet up.

If I can make it, it's looking more like Saturday in for me too.

Will update when I know more.

    Dude...

Lying in a hammock and letting the tree-frogs lull you to sleep. Some mosi-netting or a screened in porch and there ain't much better.

With the sun setting around 5:30pm, we'd probably want to be in camp before 3pm (at least) If we met at the main turnoff at 507 on the road to Catchacoma Lake around 10am, we should be fine. Any comments?

For those following on Saturday, we can likely leave a note on one of our cars to tell you which path we took (we can pm you a plate number). By then the trail we've broken should have firmed up so travelling should be easier.
I think 10:00am is reasonable. I'll have to leave my house around 5:00am or so. I'm happy with whichever route we take.

5:00am Bubba? Where are you coming from?

I am good to meet at "10 am on the road to Catchacoma". That sounds like a good song title

Perchance we could meet at a Timmies on the 35 /115 or thereabouts.
    Say at 9:00 am ?
Better than waiting around in the middle of nowhere.
Theres one on hwy 115 at Orono before the 35/115 split
