Hi HF family.

I hope someone can give some more specific advice here because there are so many choices.
Basics include:
Hammock
Suspension
Weather protection
Top/bottom insulation
Cooking system
Clothing
Something to carry it all in
I separate the two lists because there are forums for each of the topics, but the bottom list is for paid members only.
Then, in each category there are a multitude of choices. For example:
Hammocks: bridge, gathered end, etc.
Suspension: straps, whoopie slings, etc.
Weather protection: tarps and under quilt protectors or hammock socks
Cook systems: gas, wood, or alcohol based stoves? Titanium or aluminum pots?, sporks or spoons?
Then do you make your own or buy?
It's a lot of fun researching though.
I know.
Lets NOT GO in to cloth and backpack.
And the specifications isnt that needet,( different kinde af hammocks ect.) thats individual like/dislike.
But what do Someone need.
A Hammock
Underquilt (how many/what temp range)
Cook kit, what is needet in that (stove and what more)
Ect.
For Denmark, I would guess you would find a double-layer hammock, a down top quilt and bottom quilt, and a winter tarp with doors. The start adding what you find you need.
Now it isnt for me.
But Thanks.
It is just if som one shuld ask that Q.
What do you tell them that shuld use for the hole YEAR.?
YAY!
Hangcon has made it to EUROP!
Money! ;-)
The basics for your sleep system that you would need would be: hammock, tarp, bug net, suspension, closed cell foam (ccf) pad, a reflective blanket, and a sleeping bag. Some vendors have a bundle deal (like ENO's One Link), or you can buy or make it piecemeal. Then there are things like weight to consider... if you are goingto be backpacking with all of it, you may want to ditch the sleeping bag for a top quilt and under quilt (at a rating to keep you warm - I personally just got a 0 degree F underquilt and 20 degree F top quilt to use year round).
There are a lot of variables when it comes to gear selection, which is what makes answering your question difficult.

So many people are mentioning a cook kit. That's definitely a "want" - not a need. I've seen plenty of campers not cooking on my trips. Of course, a little alcohol stove can be made for about $3.50, and a little aluminum pot can be had for around $40 for a complete set (just pick the one you want to take). Unless you HAVE to boil water to rehydrate food, cooking is nice, but can be avoided with planning.
No one knows more about sleeping in a hammock full time thru a Denmark winter than your friend Torben.
I believe he uses a combination of tarp, breathable hammock sock, peapod, and down quilts. Checkout his latest videos on YouTube for some great tips.
Over here in the US what has been trending is longer and wider gathered end hammocks, and larger tarps with doors.
On cookkits alky systems are still very popular for 3 seasons, followed by the new light weight canister stoves. White gas stoves are still the best for winter camping.
Hope that helps.
