    Pulk sled modification

I am getting ready for what is supposed to be a good pulk sled season. The past couple years were a disappointment. The snowshoes are in good shape and with the work layoff, I may even be able to get out a few times to match the snowing days.
I have been working on the tree table but the idea of making the sled a table intrigued me. So, with some items I had at home....3/4" PVC pipe, some old poles, and a 1/4" wood top, I made my sled into an elevated workstation. You could just put the top on the sled for an "under the tarp" work surface as well.

That's pretty slick!! I bet you could find four small wheels to pop in their if you run into sparse snow. Two stationary on the back and rotating like on the back of a grocery cart for the front. A raised work/cook space is a great addition to the setup.

After pulling my larger sled through the mud and rocks at Mt Rogers in 2010, that may have helped, but in general I only use the pulk when I know there will be a fair amount of snow. Back in BSA days, we often had to add wheels to our Klondike sleds. Not quite the same experience!

Many may debate carrying a table, but no one will refuse to use one if it is available. Truly a most handy piece of luxury gear. Nice concept.

I agree that this is very cool. In fact, as I'm constructing my first pulk, I may just plan something to add to my project that might resemble yours.

Nice multitasker you have there. It makes the brain juices flow.

Now, does anyone have wide, oversized wheels that weigh less than 4ozs each? I guess not. There goes my plans for a Florida version.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
