I have struggled with how I might replicate this design in my shop, and have concluded it can't be done, and certainly not for $100.

Beauty is as beauty does, and this thing is a work of art. It would be a shame to let this fall off the radar...I hope someone picks it up for global distribution.

I made a very simple version of this for using at festivals with my VW bus. They don't always park you near trees so I needed one sided stand and as soon as I saw this I knew it would fit the bill. I used 1 1/2 emt (electrical conduit) cut in half with a 1/2" hole dilled in each end. Then I bolted it together with a shoulder bolt. On the bottom I limited the amount it could open with a piece of 550 paracord. It isn't pretty but it works. You have to have solid ground to stake it out with, but I used a car to tie it to. So the one side of my hammock ties to my bus and the other side is supprted by the stand.

    Treemount...

I suspect you'd have a huge market here in the US.

    just a thought

    Stainless is strong but heavy.

Aluminum is light but much weaker.

Titanium is both... but add SUPER expensive.

Carbon fiber is strong, light and also very expensive.

Has anyone considered using (drum roll please) bamboo?

There are varieties of bamboo that are both very strong and very light weight. Coating it will prevent water penetration and extend its life.

    Just a thought.
