I would love to see a teepee set up over a campground fire ring. I would think it would have to be one of the full size teepee's 20'-25' tall or more.
Interesting thought. --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=pMPqv_NJwhc

Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
I think the person in that video ended up burning up his Dakota fire pit shelter, I'm glad he was not hurt but could have been a serious disaster.

I did see someone here using a tent-jack with a large tarp that looked nice,
only saw the outside of it but there was smoke coming out the pipe...would be nice for sure.
OK, how much would you love it?

I got an old military tent that looks very similar. The only difference is it has 3 ft knee walls. It is about 18 ft in diameter and has a wood stove to go inside. We use it only on really cold winter campouts with the scouts. We can't hang hammocks inside but we got a couple of cots we use. The last time we used it, it got down to around 18 deg. Inside we had the fire rolling and it was 85 deg in the tent. We came out in our shorts, everyone else was hovered around the campfire about to freeze. We had lots of company in the tent that night. Only trouble is it's really heavy and sort of aggravating to set up. Now we are more geared to hammock camp in colder weather.

I had a hard time sitting thru the first vid. "Get to the point man". It doesn't make sense to my way of thinking. OK if you are in a bad situation and happen to have some welders blanket near by, maybe, even then it seems a stretch to me, not that its not doable, but why would you. I think your energy would be better spent with a lean-to and a long fire or if your taking things with you why not a tarp with stove jack, TG stove pipe and coleman white gas can renovated into an enclosed stove,,,pipe and stove,2 lbs.
I'll skip the burn down vid.

There's a reason we don't build fires in tents. Fire in an enclosed space=risk.
Frankly, I'd spend more time/effort/energy in creating a better insulation/shelter sytem to avoid heat loss, vs risking burning up in my sleep.
