1st WBBB Outdoor Winter Test - Need Ideas

OK - WBBB single-layer arrived, as well as Travel Sock & Superfly tarp. Parts in hand for a Turtle Stand to put in the yard here in Southern NH. UGQ 0F Top/Bottom Quilts still a few weeks out on delivery.

    I have:

    1. Wiggy's -20F Bag (synthetic)
    2. EMS Mountainlight 20F Bag (siliconized down)
    3. 72x30 Thermarest Dream Pad (Neoair plus OCF with a fleece/nylon zipper-case
    4. Thermarest Neoair AllSeason Pad
    5. Bunch of CCF Pads

Any thoughts on ways to best combine for a test night out this weekend? Should be hovering just around 32F Saturday night.

I'm thinking Dream Pad on bottom with CCF flanking L/R, with Wiggy's bag under the pads but inside hammock (that synthetic stuff compresses less than down), and Mountainlight 20F as TQ?

Only steps to indoors if I'm freezing, but that would be wussy...

If I am reading the specs correctly, the Neoair Dream has an R rating of 6.0. That should be plenty by itself and 30 inches is a good width. I would just go with that on the bottom and your 20 degree bag on top. Good luck.

Pick a combination to test and go from there changing the combinations to get an idea what works with what and what doesn't ( does it keep you warm, is it comfortable ect ).

Many a night I have had to retreat to the house when a combination did not work as expected but better to test under controlled conditions before you find your self on the trail with no where to go and putting your life at risk.

    Thanks for the comments guys.

Good time to practice the "pee-in-a-bottle" while in a hammock. Might not be a skill fully transferable from ground camping. There must be some threads on hammock mods for a "pee-chute" - if I can think of it, as a newbie, I'm sure it's been thunk of and tried before

Maybe try one of the bags as a pod system. If I camped in really cold weather I would use a pod.
