Hammock and a backpack all in one

Has anyone seen this video? Has anyone made a hammock like this out of lighter weight material? If so, how did it work out. I may just have to try and make one like this out of a table cloth this winter and test it out.

Man, that Duluth is sweet. I do remember someone popping up on the forums with a product that was like a Day Hike back pack that incorporated a sewn-in parachute style hammock.

Dutch made a crazy one, but said it was way too much work to market for a reasonable price... There were some that wanted to know the price, even after hearing that though.

Not sure if they still make 'em, they're out of stock. Made in Michigan, I have their multicam poncho/tarp and their rain boonie, nice gear.

I think you may be referring to The HackedPack. It was a Kickstarter project back in August, and the rewards will be shipping soon (they had a production snafu that caused them to miss their unannounced hopeful delivery of the packs by Christmas, but they are still well on their way to delivering by their stated Feb 2014 deadline).

It's a day pack with a hammock stuffed in the area other packs use for back ventilation.

That is actually really cool. Good job by the inventors.

It may not make the "backpacking" cut, but $100 for a daypack AND full hammock including a suspension is a crazy deal. Looks like you could even use the daypack's back panel as a pillow of sorts.

Maybe in the future they will go for something bigger and lighter.

I like the classy old burly stuff. I don't use it, but I love going into the Duluth Pack store.

The Hackedpack reward just arrived last night, haven't had a chance to do much with it, but will be taking it out this weekend on a Scouting hike... I'll post pics and a trip report next week. =]
