So this will be my first summer hiking with a hammock, previous summers, I would tote my tent and 3 season bag. BUT, I could usually be seen laying on the unrolled tent, not pitched, and outside of the sleeping bag. Am I the only one who plans on sleeping the summer in my hammock out of the sleeping bag and with the tarp up only if it is raining?
When I can. I pitch my tarp high with the sides pulled high. Tired of waking up to setup the tarp when rain is coming in.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?

Went tarpless in the wilds of my back yard the other night. Tarped it last night due to the rain. Leaving on a two nighter on the 14th. If no rain is forcasted I have no prob leaving the tarp off/down.
Nope. You're not the only one. If I'm hanging from a pine tree though, I'll usually put the tarp up. I'd rather get the pine sap on the tarp than the hammock. Sticky stuff.
I too am more concerned about sap or pollen than rain sometimes so I either hang the tarp high just in case of rain or I only stake one side and then fold the loose side back over the staked side so that it looks like a lean-to.
That way you have an open view of the stars until you wake up to rain drops at which time you simply pull the unstaked side back over and stake it out. It still requires getting up but if the ridgeline is already tied and one side is staked you're nearly there.
Not me. Tarp is up 98% of the time because I don't like getting out of the hammock until sunrise and I've been 'caught' a couple of times when I didn't have the tarp up. For some reason, I can't sleep without something on top of me. Even if it's just a bed sheet. I'm just not comfortable without a top covering.
Now, napping is a whole other story and accounts for the 2% missing above. I never set the tarp and rarely do I even get the quilts out.

Sometimes it's not rain you have to watch out for. I had to put my tarp over my hammock a couple of weekends ago just because of the pollen that was falling!!! My tarp was yellowish the next morning.

Dew happens when rain is not expected. So I always hang the tarp, though higher than for rain, to block the dew. The alternative is to wake up soaked.
yes,, I normally put the tarp up, if for nothing else the early morning dew.
