    Ultra Cold Top Quilt

I've been working on a new quilt set for extreme cold. I was able to stuff and finish the top quilt today, and thought I share a few pics.

The quilt is 91" long and is 63" from the top to the waist, then tapers to 55" at the foot. The quilt is fully baffled with 5.5 in baffles and has a sewn footbox and end with 7" baffled end. Overall loft when laid flat is 7+ inches. When positioned in it's wrapped state the loft is even more impressive. It also has tabs to secure it around the head/neck and a drawstring ant the top to cinch it down. It is filled with about 78 oz of 600 FP down reclaimed from two king size firm down pillows.

Holy crap crackers! That is one thick quilt. Too bad there are no trees inside the arctic circle. Nice very nice.

Whoa! I would be well-done in 30 minutes using that thing here in Florida!

What a nice job you did on that.

    Hoping to try it out

Temps should be back in the single digits in a couple of days, and I'm hoping to try it out, though it should still be a bit on the warm side. I'm hoping to give it a better challenge at the Frozen Butt Hang in MN in a few weeks.

Working on the under quilt to match. I've got a couple more higher FP pillows for the UQ. Hopefully a little less weight will allow the suspension to remain effective. I'm considering doubling the shock cord on the sides, and adding an optional ridge-line connection at the mid point for added support.
