TX/ Jan 25, 2014 - Ray Roberts State Park or Erwin Park (Overnight)

This is a correction thread from "TX/ Jan 18, 2014 - Ray Roberts State Park (Overnight) "

The hang will either be in Ray Roberts Lake Park, or Erwin park in McKinney.

I know Erwin but not Ray Roberts, I have checked out Erwin and know there is a place on the south side of the Park to Hang for a bunch of us. Looking to to head to Ray Roberts this week to check it out, unless someone knows a place already, and can give coords.

    Thanks

I just checked out Isle Du Boise Unit at Ray Roberts, and the Hawthorn Primitive Camping section looks promising. We'll maintained, good amount of tree for hanging. I am going to make a reservation for a site. That covers 8 people, if we go over we can deal with that as needed.

It's $15.00 per site per night and $7.00 per person per night. I will get one site and myself of course.

Hawthorn has a large car lot and a short walk to the sites, so basically car camping.

Like someone said lots of bke, walking, and horse trails, so bring your Clydesdale.

im from that area and i will say that the trails are pretty good. i used to ride them on my bike when the park first opened. i never camped there, but it does look like you could get a spot somewhere there.

just to make sure i understand the pricing...
15$ covers up to 8 people, and if we go over that its 7$ per additional?

We could do Erwin instead, they say they take a $10 fee, but I have never been asked for it.

The $7 is the Park entrance fee per person and separate from the campsite charge. If you have an annual pass, you and everyone in the car with you get the $7 waived.
