Lyman digital trigger pull guage for small stuff and a hanging spring guage for loaded packs. Marmot Precip for raingear, zippered leg pants and jacket for now. I'm going to a ULA Rain Wrap and Marmot's new lighter jacket (8oz)

Any scale that measures in tenth of oz or grams is fine..... You don't have to pack it...

DriDucts is the lightest breathable rain gear.... get it a size larger and you'll have plenty of room for insulation come winter....Jacket in size XL is only 5 oz....It is fragile....OK for AT.... don't plan on bushwacking with it...

I just got this digital scale from Harbor Freight and am going through all my gear now, getting weights in grams, ounces, and pounds.

It goes to 11 pounds (5000grams). You can zero it out, use batteries or plug it in, and measures to the gram, 1/20th of an ounce, or 1/100th of a pound. Only $20.00.

Rain gear: Waterproof ripstop pants from Walmart in the fishing dept. L.L. Bean Goretex anorak (got for $7 at Goodwill). It's not a real lightweight set, but they do quadruple duty in my pack.

I got a 35lb scale from Ebay for about $20. I also bought a smaller scale from Ebay that weighs down to the .01 of a gram, 2.5lb max capacity, for like $15.

I have a Dri Duck rain suit that I use normally, but I also sometimes use my Go Lite poncho or my Dri Ducks poncho.

I have a Marmot Precip, Frogg Toggs and Dri Ducks.

I generally take the Dri Ducks. Lighter, least expensive and seem to be the most breathable. Good for layering and I can use the jacket for a windshirt.

I use a digital kitchen scale bought at Walmart.

For raingear, I have Frogg Toggs, an REI brand of rain jacket and pants, and I also have a Sierra Designs Isotope jacket and Golite Reed pants, which I bring most of the time.

The Frogg Toggs work great, but they are HUGE on me and are very bulky.
The Rei stuff is ok, but weighs a ton.
The Isotope jacket and Reed pants take up the least amount of room and weigh the least.

I'd like to try a set of DriDucks, but I don't think they'd fit !

I got the same one that sclittlefield got from Harbor Freight.

It's good, reads down to 0.05 oz or 1 g.

Reads in lbs, oz or g. I find the lb display rather confusing. Probably because I hardly ever use it.

The only thing I don't like about it is the auto shutoff. That is good when running on batteries, but the auto shutoff also works when plugged into the outlet. This is rather annoying when transferring down into a quilt. I had to take the down off the instrument, turn it back on and continue. Not overly cumbersome, but annoying.

Neighbors bathroom scale. "Hi, it's me again with my pack in your bathroom." I bring beer when I go next door now.

REI brand Ultralight jacket and pants. Can be had on sale. Pretty good, holds up well. Black looks good around town as well.
