    Keep the suggestions coming.

I travel a lot for my job. One of the things I realized was that I can never see everything. But I can do my best and see what I can with the time I have.

    Hey Coffee
I have been listening to an audio book version of Bill Brysons, In a Sunburned Country. Well some of it just makes me laugh out loud but might make you shiver a bit, so I thought I'd edit a couple of good bits out of the book and put them here for you to hear.
I had trouble with my Audacity (if someone knows of a better app, let me know please) But I got part one finished for you.

So enjoy part one of the dangers of Australia.

Love it! Makes me wonder why we live here - maybe we should all emigrate to a safer country like the US. No, wait: bears, rattlers, scorpions, Tarantino - maybe we're safer here.

    Bump.

I have a rough route planned out and want to get your guy's take. A little ambitious but that is what makes it fun. I'm hoping for some suggestions on fun riding roads, places to see, local things to do, or just any good suggestion on something to see or do along the way.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

    HI
I have just had a look at your map. Are you REALLY sure you want to be riding from Alice Springs to Laverton??

You will be riding right through the guts of Aust which will be just about a desert. You will also be riding through Aboriginal reserves and may need permits for that, (better check for you)

There will more than likely be not many fuel stops if any, no water, no trees to hang from

I see you will be stopping off Canning hwy, what's there for you? It is also not far from my house, you should just camp at my place.

I'd hate to read about you in the papers that's all.

Here is a map showing reserves in WA, more details are here, Entry permits for access to Aboriginal Land

    Although Lasseter Hyw looks ok,

    Tjukaruru Rd

    Great Central Road.

The area however, is remote and the road is actually a sandy dirt track that weaves through extremely remote desert scrub country with very limited facilities and attractions for travellers. This is predominantly land occupied by aboriginal communities. It is advisable to travel in a 4WD vehicle, although a 2WD vehicle will make the trip. The track is frequently graded and it is generally ok for trailers including caravans however conditions vary from sand drifts and corrugations making driving far safer and comfortable in a 4WD vehicle.

The route also passes directly into Aboriginal communities in the Central Reserves and it is a legal requirement for travellers to hold a valid Transit Permit at the time of travel.

Thanks I didn't think about that. I will get on that. It is a rough outline. We are planning on winging it a good bit. We like the idea of cutting through the heart of the country. The best way to actually get out there and see things. The bikes have just short of a 400 km fuel range. There should be extra room to add fuel cans if needed.

Thanks for the offer to stay at your place. I'll have to take you up on that.

Looking again, I think I have some more planning to do for this one. Which is usually against what I like to do.

I guess just remember that Australia is as big as the continental US and that a good bit of it is desert and not people friendly.
