    New ontario hanger

    Hi everyone

I've been dreaming about camping in a hammock since last year when I found this forum. My parents got me a Hennessy expedition asym zip for Christmas and I can't wait to try it. I'm looking for somewhere around the Kitchener Waterloo area or North Bay area that I could go to try it out for the first time. Anyone know of any good places? I probably won't make it out until May or June as I can't afford an under pad. I'll happily take any suggestions for a cheap ways to stay warm?

Welcome from down the 401. A blue pad is a cheap way to go for under insulation and a sleeping bag will work as a top quilt. Check Shug's videos for some great info. He has one specifically about using a pad and a sleeping bag.

Welcome to the forum. I am bit further east along the 401 than Bubba and yourself.

As for places to test your hammock out, I would suggest trying it in your backyard if possible or a local area park or wooded area. Ideally some place really close to your home.

If you are so inclined, there is a group hang planned for in the middle of January 2014 at Valens conservation area (a little north of Hamilton and East of Cambridge). There is a thread in the trip planning area . Drop by for the day and look at everybody's gear and ask questions.

    Cheers

    Brian

Welcome from North Bay. My hammock was also a Christmas present. I'm not to sure on good hanging spots here. I'm going to find some. Doesn't seem to be to many hangers around North Bay. Might have to go check out a hang around Toronto someday.
