    Lake Murray June 12-14

A few people have expressed interest in a group hang on and island in the middle of a lake. Two folks I know have boats that could be used as transportation to said islands. I won't volunteer their boats without their permission, so I'll leave it up to them to do so.

Please be advised that those of us in attendance may be asked to contribute to making sure the boats have gas in them. The boat owners, I'm sure, will be fair in how much they ask for.

The date for this hang will be June 12-14.

As of now, we have at least one boat, owned by ricegravy, to ferry us across to the island.

Update: My father has agreed to use his pontoon boat if we need it.

I don't see why not, but I'm not sure how far out you'd want to go. Really I guess it would depend on the lake surface conditions. I'm pretty sure that there are some creeks and whatnot off of the lake though.

This is what it looks like from the air.

    Uh Oh.

The only weekend that I will be available will be the 12th threw the 14th.
The 3rd threw the 5th of July might not be a good time to try to camp on the lake. It will be full Full Very Full of people. Very busy.

This is a scientific and very high quality computer generated routing of the trip from the landing to the island. (Not really an Island)

I'm with ricegravy on this one, July fourth you are lucky to get your boat on the lake, much less find a camping spot lol, and at the place we camp another friend of ours actually built a barbecue pit. And I'm thinking of purchasing a canoe soon, so I might just canoe myself on over to the beach just for the heck of, who knows. But anyways lets see what comes of this!
Relax, monsters under the hammock are easily distracted by twister-playing squirrels.

    Thread update.

As of now, we have 3 people who intend to go and some possibilities.

    Plan to attend:
    Fulminated - 2
    Dameon - 4?
    Ricegravy - 1

    Possibles:
    DougTheElder - 1?

Ricegravy will be using his boat, and my father has agreed to use his pontoon boat to ferry us across to the island and pick us up the following Sunday. Depending on who you ride with, you'll be asked to put in for fuel.

Saturday morning we'll do a group breakfast. All other meals will be up to you.

I'll bring enough bacon for everyone. If someone could volunteer to bring eggs while someone else brings some type of juice, we'll have all of the bases covered.

    Waldo

I just would like to make it known that my boat is for sale. So if someone makes me an offer before this thrip then............ Your dad's pontoon boat might be what we are working with.
If I do still have the boat Dameon and I might get there early to secure a good spot on the water.

This is a picture of the camp spot that me and Dameon are talking about.

That's fine by me. I knew your boat was for sale, that was part of the reason for asking my pops.

I will be leaving Georgetown (work) on friday around 12 o'clock. A friend of mine has told me he wants to come along, so he'll be riding from here with me. It takes about 2 hours or so to get to Columbia. I'll probably have to stop by dad's and help him get the boat ready if he hasn't done so already. That could put us getting to the lake around 4:30 or 5.

DougTheElder has also said he will be trying to come and he'll bring his boat if he does, but he also said that he won't know for sure until a couple days prior to the trip if he'll be able to make it due to work.

So, I guess what I am saying is..if you sell your boat, I need to know as soon as possible so I can get to columbia the night before and take the entire friday off so we can get out on the lake a lot earlier to secure the spot. Unless, that is, you guys will still be able to get to the island somehow without my pop's boat.

I have no idea what you are talking about fulminated. Do you think that I have time for kid games?

PS: We are going to have to figure out one way or another to get there early. I'm sure we will work something out.
