    Basic question

This is a pretty basic question I'm sure, but what's the general distance between trees( or other hanging post) for hanging a hammock? I have a TX250 w/weathershield and tarp on the way and I got a set of ENOS Atlas straps for Christmas. What would be the max that I would want between trees?

Someone can correct me if im wrong, 12ft with your suspension at a 30° angle. That being said, whatever is comfortable for you is the right way!

I find that 6 regular steps work for me. App 13-15 ft.

Minimum - whatever your tarp ridgeline is
Maximum - 15 feet is about as far as I'd want to go for a gathered end hammock.

    +1 on the 15 feet.

12 will do, but I get a better hang at 15 +/- a foot or so.

    All the best!

===> Ditto the above. After many nights in my Blackbirds and HH, and my new RidgeRunner, finding two trees that are as close to 6 full paces seems to be the magic distance - about 15 ft. Works every time.

If farther away then 12-15ft. Put tree straps higher on the tree. I have Hung with trees as close as 8ft. No tarp used, what I did was hang from each side of the tree. A banana affect but I was able to sleep on my side.
