I think you have done quite well. and if you get other newbies asking questions about the whole hammock thing, then that might be good too.
But I also think some real research with some real bone fide results should be done into how the trees are actualy ok with webbing around the trunk to protect them. Then maybe the hanging ban could be lifted.
We don't have this problem here at all and so maybe this has been done before and I could be talking out of turn

You folks obviously don't read my posts. If you did, you would see the term "lazy" repeated quite often. I just got a bug up my butt right now. I can not tolerate ignorance by choice. I certainly don't mind well thought-out and founded rules and regulations as they help us avoid the lowest common denominator problems, but they should be updated and adjusted as time goes by. Did you know, when I was in High School in Kansas (they still taught evolution back then) it was illegal, in Kansas, to eat Cherry Pie with ice cream on Wednesday (pretty sure it was Wed.)? What the heck kind of sense does that make? Laws, rules, and regulations need to change as we do.
I just wanna hang!
Trust nobody!
That story is SOOOO familure: I was organizing a bicycle ride, the 15th one that started in the heart of Cincinnati at Fountain Square. I was told "You CAN NOT Ride bicycles on fountain square they will damage the cobblestones!!!!!!!" flashback to 2 weeks before I called: a "concert in the park", with SEMI TOWED multi thousand pound stage on the same cobble stones in fountain square, Hydralic leveling jacks & everything. Metal chairs for the audience & a beer truck. The week after I called, a vintage car show, guess where, , , Yep, on the cobble stones of fountain square. Yep, a beer truck was there too, it's Cincinnati.
Etc, etc, etc.
#1: "Hey, I want to be in a position of authority in Cincinnati's government"
#2: "OK, but first we have to remove your brain."
#1: "Fine, when do I start?"
#2: "It just takes,,, a,,,, few,,,, seconds. There!"
#1: "Drool!"
#2: "Now you is a guvernement emploiey. Start spreading misery."

PAIN is INEVITABLE. MISERY is OPTIONAL.
I understand your frustrations, Cannibal. I have been on a futile "rage against the machine" from the day I was born. It is just an integral part of me, to want to rail against inane rules and regulations and butt my head against the brick wall of bureaucracy or seemingly pointless "Rules Of Operation." I really, really, really dislike rules, especially when they don't reflect real life and needs. I can understand caution, I can understand uniformity, I can understand the "CYA" mentality - but I can't tolerate laziness or the "that is how it has always been done" mentality. We would still be grubbing worms out of the dirt for our dinners if someone didn't occasionally do something that went against the established norm - we would be living in caves and sleeping in the dirt if someone at some point didn't try something new. We would be no better than animals if we didn't occasionally use our brains for something other than trying to figure out where our next meal was coming from or who we could mate with.
I think bureaucracy is already devolving to nothing more than CYA. Nobody wants to stick their neck out, because 90% of the time some bureaucrat will try to chop it off with his/her gold-plated stapler, or for fear of having to go back to a "real" job in the real world.
Hurrah for Cannibal! There are some good people in civil service out there, they just usually have no cajones to speak their mind or stand up for what is right. Or even to see logic.
Keep up the good fight!
Cannibal, I can't open the Member's discussion site from work , so I can't post this link in your "Cannibal needs assistance" thread.
Saw this on the treemounthammocks.com site, and immediately thought of your needs for your "National Get Outdoors Day" event in Denver.
