    Yeti clone

    It's not really a clone. but I copied from a pic of it. It really is a 42"w x 48" long differential baffled (7 inches bottom to 6 inches on top) 3/4 UQ with side channels. Grey Sil on top and Grey 1.1 on bottom with dwr. I didn't put on the end draft blockers yet. I can add them later. for now I gathered it JRB style. But there is a problem;

    The quilt sags in the middle. I have never really seen a yeti in person so maybe i have the suspension wrong. What I have is channel in the side using the hems. 3/16 shock cord runs throught the channels and get attached to the hammock suspension on either end. I put a heavy duty cordlock so I can adjust the tensoin of the shock cord. I thought it would hold it up evenly to the bottom of the hammock, but it tends to sag in the middle because nothing is pulling it outwards like a JRB suspension does. I could just use the JRB suspension but I would like to figure this out and know what I am missing. Maybe i just need to make it real tight. Some help please, the weekend is almost over and I am going hiking next weekend.
    Peace Dutch

    strange, is it rectangular? maybe try making the sc tighter. it could be a problem with the shape, hard to say, but seems like if there was enough tension on the sc it should pull the bottom center flush to the hammock

    Maybe I am reading it wrong, but did you say "gathered" JRB style?
    The problem may be that the yeti is not gathered at all but lays kind of flat open and uses the baffles as a seal. I don't if I'm picturing what you have done properly or not, but try hanging it not gathered and see if it fits better, if so add them baffles asap.

    That is a very good point. It can't get wider then the amont i am restricting it on the ends. I'll try to post a pic tommarrow. I had my hot water heater go out on me today so I'm playing plumber

    Did you make a DYI one out of Silnylon and a Caldera Cone?

    Maybe the side of the quilt that faces the bottom of the hammock needs to be smaller. I've never made one of these, but it seems like you would want the side that faces the hammock to be a bit smaller than the side facing the ground... that way you get tension against the bottom of the hammock without compressing your down.

    Also, are you talking about sag while you're looking at it or while you're in it? I think Brandon warns that there will be sag in the Yeti if you're just standing there looking at it, but it goes away when you get in the hammock.
