    Superfly on CRL

I have a new Superfly tarp that I received for Christmas, and am trying to decide how to rig it. I have a Hennessy hammock, and have always just used the standard tarp attached directly to the hammock ridge line, so a separate tarp suspension is all new to me.

I am looking at using a CRL and attaching it with some Dutch flyz. However, I am also thinking about actually attaching the tarp to the line by using a couple of biners and prusiks. That way I can slide the tarp around without worrying about moving the actual suspension.

Anybody have any experience with this? My concern is whether the prusiks will hold tight enough tension on the tarp.

    Thanks.

Check out the videos on you tube from Derek Hansen. Search "tarp continuous ridgeline". I'm doing the same thing. New SuperFly , I am going to try a CRL out of braided mason line and play with that before I cut my roll of Dyneema

Prusiks will hold just fine. It's a popular method for tarp suspension. Depending on the line you use and/or how new it is, you may need an extra wrap or two for the prusik to hold firmly.

    Superfly on CRL

I went through a few different setups on my tarps before I settled on my personal favorite. Now all my tarps have this:
    - 30 feet of 1.75 "Lash-It" for the CRL
    - On one end of the CRL is a titanium Dutch hook on a locked brummel
    - On the other end is a Dutch Tarp Flyz
    - The tarp is attached to the CRL using a continuous loop of 1.75mm "Zing-It" on each end
    - The Zing-It loops are attached to the tarp using a girth hitch (aka: larks head) and attached to the CRL using a prusick

This gives me the ability to put the tarp anywhere on the ridge line and tighten it up without any extra clips, biners, doo-hickies, etc. The only "hardware" pieces are the Dutch hook and tarp flyz on each end of the CRL.
Zing-It and Lash-It are actually the same thing - just different colors so it's easy for me to see which is which.
I don't have any trouble with the prusicks sliding. They hold just fine.

    I have the same tarp.
I use Prussics on my CRL attached directly to the metal ring on the tarp.
Tie off both ends of the CRL, then easily adjust tarp left-to-right.
    Simple, no hardware, less weight.

    Lots of options,,,

I use the simple single from arrowhead equipment. Check it out online and you could save a little $$ if you built it yourself.

Bob, I'm using exactly what you are thinking of, it works. I can get everything nice and tight, no slipping.

I've been using the single ridge line with prussiks, but someone in another thread argued that the SF really needed double line suspension to achieve the tautness that was intended by Brandon. I rigged a 2 line suspension with tarp flyz to test this argument, but haven't tried this yet for comparison...
