As we have some people that have made this mod present I wast thinking of a way to keep the pole upright. I was thinking a line tensioner like one of the msr ones. I run my ridge line above the tarp, I could have the two tensioners on there run the pole through and attach it to the pull outs. What do you think? Would it work?

If you have the ridgeline over the tarp and are using angled center fittings on the poles, just place the poles over the ridgeline and you're done...

I'm going to make a couple changes to the lengths of my poles this weekend. I'll update once it's done.
This pole mod looks really nice. If you were to add your own side pull-outs to a superfly style tarp, and planning to use this type of pole mod, would it be beneficial to sew the tie-outs "upside down"? Looking at Mac25's original picture, it looks like it's peeling the tie-out away from the tarp.
I'm not a physics person, so maybe the angle and direction of force or coolness of the superfly protects it. Just wondering.
Looks like a good idea. I'm curious how it will hold up in the wind. I look forward to the test results.

I re-cut my poles. It's the same overall length. I just even them out so they will fold down smaller. Rookie mistake on the first try. I've got it out in the rain and wind right now. I'm going to sleep in it tonight. I'll post in the morning how she held up.
Here is an updated drawing of the lengths of the poles.
