    POD System Question

Looking at Shugs pod videos and latest success (insane -40* adventure) has me wondering about the nuts and bolts of a pod system. It seems many of the pics of pod use point to a limited assym lie. Which brings me to one of my questions:

    1) Would a shorter hammock have an advantage over a longer hammock due to the ends of the pod connecting to a point on the hammock with less width or spread?

I've been more than a little tempted to purchase a GT Nano or make a copy that's a little wider, looking at using a mummy bag as a pod makes the shorter hammock seem even more appealing that weight savings.

    2) When using a mummy bag as a pod are there any modifications needed for the lower or foot end zipper?

    3) How do you attach the suspension to the top of the bag?

    Thanks for your input.

As to the assym lay…..I am on one just a bit less. Warmth Trumps Assym though.
    Hope that will help.

Thanks for the link to the videos. I looked at those last night (the things that keep old men entertained!) and I did have a question in the clip you used to attach the hood to the suspension. What are those? Also how long is the green bean? It looks like the lower zipper is about as low or towards the bottom as you can get it.

Forecast for 11* next week, will be experimenting soon!

    Thanks!

Those clips are discontinued…have had them for 20 years. Pretty sure you could use Grip Clips. http://shelter-systems.com/gripclips/
Green Bean is 114" long and 60" wide.
The zipper is fairly close to the bottom. http://www.westernmountaineering.com...s&ContentId=28

Thanks! I was going to use a ping pong ball as a substitute for the grip clip for my initial test, and use a tablecloth that is similar in length to your green bean. My bag is similar an REI 15* bag.

    THANKS
