I was just up there last week during the cold. Great snow conditions! We stayed in Union River cabin for three nights and snowshoed every day. Had my son, nephew and brother-in law with me. We all hang, but do not have enough gear for the winter, especially in that weather. Last year, when just two of us went, we slept outside in hammocks right off the lake. We had the White Tail cabin. Poor site selection, but stayed warm none the less. It is nice to have the cabin for snow melt, cooking and changing clothes. Have fun, stay safe

Later the better for me. Would like to get both the winter hang and this one in, but can't do two weekends in a row.

I would agree on a later date. I'd probably be good for late feb or early mar.

How does Feb 28th, Mar 1st and 2nd work for everyone? I plow snow for $ in the winter, my stepdad can cover for me when I need him to, so I'm flexible.

Just to give you guys a face to go by (if you haven't looked at my flickr, and I don't mind if you do), since I haven't done a group hang and met anyone, this is me with Ken Block.

And this is Yogi, my pit/lab who usually hangs with me. Not a mean bone in his body, he is 2yrs and loves to play, loves kids, cats, and other dogs. If the weather isn't too cold I would like to take him along. He's not a barker, only at home does he bark.

I just went through the 56 pages of the Frozen Butt Hang, so I have a better idea of the process. I'm working on diy poles for my pulk, might even get a bigger pulk. I'm planning on more reconn in the area, and was thinking of pulling in wood each time I go in. The ranger I talked to said there was a lot of dead wood in the area, but when I was there in 2' of snow, I figured most of it is buried. I could haul in wood that is already processed, and stash it under a tarp. We could supplement that wood with more that we process, but seasoned wood will be nice to have.

If I wasn't already going up there the end of this month I would consider it. Work is slow for me which leaves the time but not the money for 2 trips, should be a great time tho! I will chime in after my trip and give you guys a heads up. Nice K9 unit by the way!
