SC>Goat Island, Lake Greenwood>23-26 May 2014 - Goat Island Hang!!

Well, now that FH4 is nearly behind me (I still have some gear to finish sorting and storing), do ya'll think it's too soon to start planning my trip to Goat Island?

I am so glad to finally have a date set aside that we can make this hang. It's been on the to do list for several years now.

Muskrat was an excellent ambassador by the way, FLB and FLG mentioned they would like to try and make it as well, but with her being a teacher that puts them on the definite maybe list.

I look forward to seeing you all in May. It's can't come soon enough.

Super excited to meet you and Timberrr too. Muskrat has been doing more evangelizing about the Florida hang since he's been back in SC. I'm glad to hear that he talked up Goat Island while he was down there with y'all.

I've been exchanging emails with Gwd Lake Management and they are super excited about having "the hammock camping group" on the island again. I am sure that we will not only meet but exceed their expectations.

You guys are AWESOME!!!!

Muskrat and I have been Brainstorming on a few things and I hope we will have some things nailed down within the next week or so to start making a few announcements.

I believe FLG said she would be done with school by then. I would definitely like to see them come.

After talking with Muskrat about the different items needed for this year's event we came to the conclusion that we need to prepare for some rain. So...

If anyone going to the hang has an Easy Up shelter they can bring, it would be greatly appreciated. It would be great if we could get several three or five of these on the island.

Neither Muskrat nor I have one of these fantastic shelters but I am hoping that I can find one or two to borrow between now and then; but if I can't, I figured it would be best to go ahead and put out the call for assistance.

After I get finished talking it up at the Sherpa Hang there may be others headed up that way. May is just about past what most of us southerners tolerance for heat down here can stand and having the opportunity to hang again in May could drag a few more northward. I'll see if I can't repay Muskrat for spreading rumors about us down here in Florida.

Last year, the weather was very nice. Didn't even use bug nets at this hang, even on an island.

The more the merrier

. I can't wait for this hang!

The first time we had this hang it was too hot but do anything but float

. It was almost too hot to do even that (Lake Greenwood felt like bathwater

) We shouldn't have to worry about that at the end of May.

No rumors to spread Olddog... only truths.... well... Maybe one rumor. RichtorFL was praying for snow in that one pic you got of him in the chair.

I am really looking forward to see as many FL hangers that are willing to make the drive up. Great group of people down there. However, we got a great group of hangers up here as well and what a shindig we could have on the island
