Talking New HH Explorer Deluxe + SS :D

Christmas came late but she's finally here

Going to set it up tomorrow put it up for a few minutes today after work, not much daylight to work with but managed to get the snake skins on.

Question, can you put the rain fly and Super Shelter up in the snake skins too?

    or just the Rain Fly?

And I got the hex rain fly.

Also, when you tie the the rope to the webbing straps, how much room should be between the knot at the end of the webbing strap to the beginning of the hammock ? *try to visualize*

Anyway just wanted to share, just joined the hammock world and I already love it, gona post a few pics tomorrow whenever I get it hung up with the rain fly and SS.

I have the HHexplorer Deluxe and wrap the hex tarp, hammock and the super shelter without the foam in the snake skins with no problem. I also keep all the tie outs on the hammock as well.

I think you will love the system and the next think will be have the zipper mod at 2QZQ. Have a great first hang

Where's a good place to find 2 carabiners and those rings that seems to be the preferred way of tying up

Depends on how far apart the trees are. Anywhere from a 6 to 12" or several feet. ( from HH fig 8 lashing to the hammock). Try to pick trees about 13 ft apart min to 18 ft max. For me, less is better. The further apart the trees, the higher up ( well over your head) you have to put the huggers.

Pay close attention to installing the Super Shelter correctly. It is simple as dirt once you are used to it, but easy to go wrong on 1st try.
1: make sure the pad egg crate is up and the wide end is towards the head end of the hammock.
2: make sure the entry for bottom entry hammocks on the sil-nylon UC is towards the foot end of the hammock and
3: there is a black seam on the INSIDE of the UC. If the opening is towards the foot and the black seam is on the inside, then the side pull out openings should all line op correctly and it is on correctly. Then just leave it on until hot weather.
4: be careful not to poke a hole in the pad with your fingers.
5: BE SURE and put a 2 oz space blanket on top of the HH pad.
6: if you need something extra, put a fleece jacket or other insulation under the HH pad.

You may also want to beef up the side pull out elastics to better control the elastics in the UC and keep things opened up nicely.

    Have fun, good luck!

Excellent! My Hex tarp has pockets in the corners to hold the tire downs. I can fit it all in the snake skins but I got a second set for the tarp. Sometimes I set up the tarp and use it for a dining fly or Sunshade.

As for rings and 'biners try REI in Atlanta. They have free shipping to their stores and you can stop by on your way up. I love that setup, it makes setting up quick but I have been warned that it can put added stress on parts of the rope. I don't think it's much of an issue with the thicker ropes on the deluxe.
    Thanks,

    Mr. G
